Indonesian Defense Minister Awards Dharma Samudera Medal to JS Kunisaki Personnel at Kijing Port, Mempawah

JACKTVNEWS .co.id  || Mempawah, West Kalimantan   Indonesian Navy, Kodaeral XII — Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, General (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, awarded the Dharma Samudera Medal of Honor of the Republic of Indonesia to personnel of the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) involved in the humanitarian mission aboard JS Kunisaki. The award ceremony was held on the forward deck of JS Kunisaki, which was docked at Kijing Port, Mempawah, West Kalimantan, on Wednesday (September 30).

The award was presented as a form of national appreciation for the dedication and contribution of JSDF personnel to the humanitarian assistance mission, particularly their efforts to provide clean water to communities affected by the disaster in West Kalimantan.

The ceremony was presided over by the Indonesian Minister of Defense. Also in attendance were the Ambassador of Japan to Indonesia, the Vice Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), Special Adviser to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Lieutenant General (Ret.) Prof. Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, the Vice Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, the Vice Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, the Vice Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Defense, including the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, the Head of Defense Logistics, the Head of Defense Facilities and Maintenance, the Head of the Ministerial Administration Bureau, and the Head of the Defense Information Bureau. Representing the regional command were the Commander of Kodaeral XII and the Chief of Staff of Kodam XII/Tanjungpura.

The honors were presented to representatives of the recipients: Commander of the Deployed Task Force Colonel Syunzi Nakahara, Commander of the Maritime Deployed Task Force Captain (N) Noma Toshihide, and Commander of the Aviation Unit Lieutenant Colonel Wakatsuki Shinichi.

Following the ceremony on the ship's deck, the event continued with a closed-door meeting between the Indonesian Minister of Defense and the JSDF delegation leaders in the Wardroom, or officers' dining and meeting room, aboard JS Kunisaki.

The organizing committee from Kodaeral XII, led by the Assistant for Operations to the Commander of Kodaeral XII, together with the Head of the Legal Affairs and Protocol Office, the Head of the Information Service, the Head of the Supply and Logistics Service, and the Commander of the Kodaeral XII Patrol Unit, worked closely with the Ministry of Defense Protocol Team and JS Kunisaki personnel to ensure that the entire series of events proceeded safely and smoothly.

The presentation of the Dharma Samudera Medal represents a symbol of the strong defense cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, particularly in the fields of humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
