Indonesia opens new investment opportunities for Qatar in energy, housing and digital infrastructure
Jakarta || JACKTVNEWS co.id. Indonesia and Qatar are marking an important milestone in 2026 as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. Both governments are seeking to further strengthen bilateral ties through investment and development cooperation.
Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) received the Ambassador of Qatar to Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari.
The meeting marked AHY’s first meeting with the Qatari ambassador since Sultan bin Mubarak began his diplomatic assignment in Indonesia.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening Indonesia–Qatar bilateral relations, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation as the two countries commemorate five decades of diplomatic ties.
Indonesia expressed its openness to greater Qatari investment and collaboration, particularly in infrastructure development and regional development.
Several sectors were discussed, including renewable energy, such as the use of floating solar technology on dams and reservoirs, housing and residential areas, water management, connectivity, and digital infrastructure.
The discussion also covered investment developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and geopolitical developments in the Gulf region.
Indonesia–Qatar investment cooperation has previously been a focus of the central government. In June 2026, the Qatari government announced an investment commitment of US$4 billion in Indonesia, with opportunities to expand investment in several strategic sectors.
On the diplomatic front, relations between the two countries have also continued to strengthen. In September 2026, Qatari Ambassador Sultan bin Mubarak Al-Dosari delivered a written message from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to President Prabowo Subianto regarding bilateral relations and efforts to further strengthen and develop them.
With the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Indonesia and Qatar have opportunities to expand cooperation in investment, infrastructure, clean energy, technology, and regional development.
The government hopes that the five-decade partnership between the two countries will generate more concrete cooperation and deliver mutual benefits for Indonesia and Qatar.
